Are You Using Blogging To Your Advantage?

July 16th, 2008

BloggingBlog posts don’t just have to be small personal opinions on things. They can be long and detailed and full of insight if you so desire. They can also significantly help your online presence.

And long blog posts can give you another advantage as well. Let’s say you’ve written a really good article on a subject you frequently write about. You’ve sent it to a few article directories and you are pointing the resource box towards your main website.

Why not make even more out of that one article by using it as a blog post?

And better still, you could give anyone and everyone who reads it permission to put it on their website or blog. They might link to it anyway, but why not let them copy and paste it over with a backlink to your site?

Fresh Content For Other Sites

People are forever looking for fresh new content to put on their own sites, and if you actually say to someone, ‘Hey look, I’ve got a great piece here you can use wherever you like – just make sure the contact details at the bottom stay the same…’, that’s really persuasive. It’s steering them carefully towards doing exactly what you want them to – which is to stick your nice long blog post on another site somewhere to give you even more exposure.

The internet is all about sharing, but even while some people might like to read and use your content elsewhere, they won’t ever get around to asking you if they can do so. If you give them permission up front you never know where your articles could end up.

If you’re pretty new to internet marketing you’ll still be looking for ways to promote yourself and start to make a name for yourself. Giving people permission to republish your blog posts is a great way to do just that. So why not start writing, posting and offering right now?

What you need to know is if that site sits and remains static, you will eventually lose out on the potential of people getting to your site who want to buy what you are selling. Even if you attain the coveted top spot on Google, you won’t hold it for long if you don’t continually update.

How Blogging Can Help Internet Marketing Efforts

A blog, added to your website can do a lot for your search engine optimization. Not only can you continually add more information to help you get more visitors but you can also be sure that the search engine spiders will start visiting your site more often.

Utilising the Long Tail in SEO

July 12th, 2008

The Long Tail in SEO can help you reach your SEO efforts much more easily. What is this SEO term and how can you use it to your advantage? Those using more than one SEO approach are best equipped to survive changes to the secret Google SEO algorithms. Consider doing LSI silos as well as Long Tail, article marketing and social marketing as well.

Long Tail Illustration:

Long Tail SEOIf you’re going to try to hit Google spot # 1 on the word computer, you’re in for a very challenging journey as there are going to be millions of hits on the word ‘computer.’ However, if you decide to target used computers, Houston you just might get the results you’re hoping for. If you do a check on the number of hits for each term and you’ll quickly see there are still a lot of hits on both terms but the Long Tail term is going to be much easier to get to the top of the totem pole with.

What Are Your Potential Customers Searching For?

Take your target customer and think about what they’ll be searching for. Not only do you have a better chance of them finding you when you optimize for their targeted keywords but you’ll have a bit less competition fighting for those words.

Fewer Competitors = More Sales

When you go looking for something, the keywords you use are probably quite specific because you understand that you need to do more than a single word search. Most people who want to buy something online and want more than just very generic information will search with more than a word or two in their phrase.

Use keywords tools online when doing your SEO prep work like the Google tilde operator and some common sense when deciding to go after Long Tail keywords.
